Museum As Muse
Author Miriam Sagan, whose poetry collections include The Widow’s Coat (Ahsahta Press, 1999), The Art Of Love (La Alameda Press, 1994), Pocahontas Discovers America (Adastra, 1993), True Body (Parallax Press, 1991), and Aegean Doorway (Zephyr, 1984), led 22 emerging writers through a two-day writing workshop.
At the end of “Museum As Muse,” the writers presented their work to the public at a gathering in the courtyard at the Palace of the Governors/The New Mexico History Museum, in Santa Fe.
What they read is presented here.
The September 2006 workshop was sponsored by the Palace of the Governors, with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal grant-making agency dedicated to creating and sustaining a nation of learners by helping libraries and museums serve their communities.
- Banned Book Exposed!
The freedom to read is the reason to celebrate Banned Books Week, September 23-29, 2006. And it is for that very reason that libraries and librarians in the United States have such a long history of protecting Americans’ rights to read and access information - this week and every other week.
